The 2016 Goals

I live for change!! Change is when I grow and learn the most about myself. Putting these 2016 goals out into the universe makes me accountable + to try my best to fulfill them. I feel like 2015 was the last year of “infancy” for my business, so for 2016 I have a higher level of expectation for this little dream of mine. I want to take everything I learned in 2015 and kick it into full gear for 2016. Without further ado read on to see what I want out of 2016!

1. Upgrade my backup Mark ii camera to the Mark iii. Oh how I love my Mark iii!!! And sell and upgrade a few of my other lenses that I don’t use very often.

2. Take a calligraphy course. I’ve been wanting to check this off my “crafty stuff to learn” list that’s always running in my head — and I’m so excited that I’m signed up for one this month with my BFF, Chad!

3. I would like to venture into the mentoring field for young entrepreneurs and photographers. I’m head-over-heals for being the boss and building my empire and it’s a passion of mine to inspire others to do the same. It makes me feel like I’m making a difference. I read once that you should give away all of your secrets because the good karma will come back to you ten-fold. So if you or anyone you know would be interested in learning how to start your business from nothing, build a brand, and learn camera basics…I’m your girl!

4. BLOG MORE. Yes, yes, I know…it was just on the 2015 failed goals list. BUT, I have a solution! I want to promise to blog once a week about topics unrelated to photography! have so many fun crafts and home projects running in the background at all times so I’m doing a disservice to my audience!

5.  “I will hold myself to a standard of grace, not perfection”. This is a hard one for me because it’s ingrained in my makeup to go 110% with anything I’m passionate about. And I’m hard on myself when I fall short. But I want 2016 to be about finding peace in the madness. I want strict business hours during the weekday so I can separate family time and work time and be completely present in the designated task.

6. Learn film! This will be on my goals list until I accomplish it. It is an expensive hobby and I feel like its a whole other world from digital photography so it will just take discipline to set aside time for it.

7. Finish my online courses in the Academy!! Every course is video based teaching so that equals LOTS of time in front of the computer. Spare time is hard to come by these days with the boys getting older and having more activities but to better serve my clients this goal is a MUST.

So there we have it — LKP’s 2016 goals. Buckle your seat belts this year is going to be quite a ride!!!! Can’t wait — 2016 here I come!!

I want you to look at your images and think, "That's exactly how I wanted to be photographed. She saw me."
